Volleyball Recap: Garfield Heights Takes a Loss

Garfield Heights suffered their biggest defeat since September 23rd on Wednesday. They came up short against the Beachwood Bison, falling 3-0. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bison apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.

Garfield Heights took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-19.

Shamira Thigpen paced Garfield Heights' offense, picking up four kills. Thigpen got some help from Aniah Taylor and her five assists. Taylor also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Jakeria Ball, each putting up two.

Garfield Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Beachwood, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Garfield Heights and Washington will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 20th. As for Beachwood, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Brooklyn on the 9th.
