Football Game Preview: Carroll Tigers vs. Alamo Heights Mules

The Carroll Tigers will square off against the Alamo Heights Mules at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Carroll made easy work of Corpus Christi Moody and carried off a 49-27 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won four in a row.

Carroll got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ignacio Arellano out in front who picked up 64 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 56 yards and one touchdown. Arellano was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 64 yards. Sebastian Robles was another key back, rushing for 114 yards and one TD on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carroll was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Arellano, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alamo Heights). They simply couldn't be stopped two weeks ago as they easily beat Tivy 77-35. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mules' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Antlers are ranked 405th).

Carroll's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Alamo Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
