Football Recap: Freeburg Extends Home Winning Streak to Six + How To Watch

Freeburg had won six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-1 to make it seven. They skirted past the Roxana Shells 21-19. For the Midgets, this counts as revenge for the 12-10 victory the Shells walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Freeburg was led to victory by Cooper Kisgen and Joseph Carmack. Kisgen rushed for 150 yards, while Carmack rushed for 19 yards and a pair of scores. With that strong performance, Kisgen is now averaging an impressive 103 rushing yards per game.

As for Roxana, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. The contest marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Roxana saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mekhi Shorter rushed for 174 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Those 174 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Shorter.
