Baseball Recap: Pine Island Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Pine Island waltzed into their match on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Kasson-Mantorville Komets by a score of 7-3. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alex Knox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Ben Grabau was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Sems, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Pine Island pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Kasson-Mantorville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Kasson-Mantorville will host Lourdes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Island will be paying especially close attention to the Komets' game: after the Komets faces off against the Eagles, they'll take on Pine Island again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
