Football Recap: Nikolas Sanchez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gilroy over Silver Creek + How To Watch

Gilroy lost against Silver Creek back in October of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs took a 17-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 7-3 in the first quarter.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nikolas Sanchez, who rushed for 63 yards, and also picked up 54 receiving yards.

Jordan Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Silver Creek, rushing for 133 yards and a pair of scores. Those 133 rushing yards gave Thompson a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Gilroy and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Silver Creek, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Gilroy and Silver Creek will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Mustangs are set to square off against their familiar foe Willow Glen at 7:15 p.m. on the 10th. Meanwhile, Silver Creek will challenge rival Pioneer at 7:15 p.m. on the 10th.
