Preview: St. Mary's Lancers vs. Southwestern Trojans
After three games on the road, St. Mary's is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Southwestern Trojans at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Mary's has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three matches.
St. Mary's and Horseheads' game two weeks ago was close at halftime, but St. Mary's turned on the heat in the second half with 47 points. Everything went St. Mary's way against Horseheads as St. Mary's made off with a 69-45 win.
St. Mary's found their leader in underclassman Emily Mcdonald, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mcdonald has scored at least 25% of St. Mary's points. Another player making a difference was Jada Mushat, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Southwestern was the victim of a tough 61-39 defeat at the hands of Frewsburg on Monday.
St. Mary's now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Southwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
St. Mary's took their victory against Southwestern when the teams last played back in November of 2019 by a conclusive 70-50. Does St. Mary's have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southwestern turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
