Softball Game Preview: Rock Island Rocks vs. Normal West Wildcats

The Rock Island Rocks will head out on the road to face off against the Normal West Wildcats on Saturday. Rock Island will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Rock Island barely beat Sherrard the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rocks put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 7-1 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Rocks, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

A'Rion Lonergan was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Leahy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Normal West came up short against Pontiac on Thursday and fell 5-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Normal West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Kobel, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Kobel's first of the season.

Rock Island's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Normal West, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-18.
