Basketball Game Preview: Newport Greyhounds vs. Hoxie Mustangs

The Newport Greyhounds will head out on the road to take on the Hoxie Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Newport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.

Last Friday, Newport was able to grind out a solid win over Manila, taking the game 66-59.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-36, which was the final score in Hoxie's tilt against Osceola on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Seminoles are ranked 49th).

Newport is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Hoxie, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Everything came up roses for Newport against Hoxie in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured an 83-50 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newport since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
