Softball Game Preview: Ninety Six Wildcats vs. Saluda Tigers

Ninety Six is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Saluda is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will host the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ninety Six's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Batesburg-Leesville with a sharp 19-0 victory. The Wildcats have beaten the Panthers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Saluda faced off against Pelion on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Panthers 10-0.

Not much got past Miller Martin, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Pelion off the board. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Saluda let Ava Martin and Kamryn Campbell run wild. Martin went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Campbell scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Jayme Sheaffer was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Saluda's win bumped their record up to 14-3-1. As for Ninety Six, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
