Baseball Recap: Pueblo Central Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pueblo Central can now relate to. They fell just short of the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks by a score of 17-16 on Saturday. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Cole Billings led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Pueblo Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't). Jayce Ibarra also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Pueblo Central's loss dropped their record down to 12-11-1. As for Cheyenne Mountain, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-7-1.

Pueblo Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they have already played their next contest, an 18-4 victory against Green Mountain on the 17th.
