Baseball Recap: Deming Drops Season-High Score on Varsity Opponent

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deming). They put the hurt on Varsity Opponent with a sharp 21-5 victory on Friday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Deming got a massive performance out of Chris Olvera, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave Olvera a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ezra Sainz, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Deming always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Deming's win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Deming Wildcats take on Valencia Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Varsity Opponent, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-7 victory against Hattiesburg HomeSchool on the 28th.
