Hannah Witte was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Holmes, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Goshen and Clermont Northeastern meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rockets a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Kenzie Durbin, who gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Clermont Northeastern off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makayla Campbell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Karli Campbell, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Monroe's record is now 10-11. As for Goshen, their record now sits at 23-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Monroe hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Goshen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
