Basketball Recap: Owen Mcclanahan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dayspring Christian Academy over Flatirons Academy

Dayspring Christian Academy lost against Flatirons Academy on February 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles came up short against the Flatirons Academy Bison, falling 68-47. The Eagles were down 52-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Owen Mcclanahan, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points and six boards. Mcclanahan is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Jake Kooienga was another key player, putting up seven points and five assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Flatirons Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Schulz, who went 7-for-13 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Schulz a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Brandon Ewing, who went 8-for-16 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Dayspring Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 8-13. As for Flatirons Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-6.

Dayspring Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-38 win against Belleview Christian on the 27th. As for Flatirons Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 70-51 victory against Estes Park on the 27th.
