Baseball Recap: Del Norte Comes Up Short

Del Norte fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Patrick Henry on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 4-3. If the Nighthawks were looking for revenge after losing 6-2 to the Patriots when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Grey Gusich spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Del Norte is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-4 otherwise.

Del Norte now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Patrick Henry, their record now sits at 6-4-1.

Looking ahead, Del Norte will be taking part in a tournament against San Marcos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Nighthawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Patrick Henry, they will take on Granite Hills in a tournament on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 2.8, the Eagles 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
