Basketball Recap: Lincoln's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lincoln can now relate to. They took a 74-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Modesto Christian Crusaders. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Lincoln lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Anthony Moore, who shot 53% from the field on his way to 24 points. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Donez Lindsey, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 21 points.

It was another big night for Gavin Sykes, who shot 61% from the field en route to 45 points for Modesto Christian. Sykes continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Jones, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 20 points.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 27-4. As for Modesto Christian, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-7.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will welcome Clovis West at 7:00 p.m. on March 4th. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 24 matches. As for Modesto Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-52 loss against Folsom on the 28th.
