Baseball Recap: Westminster School Comes Up Short

Westminster School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Loomis Chaffee School Pelicans. The Martlets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pelicans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Matthew Shea made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Shea is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Monty Gantz, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Westminster School's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Loomis Chaffee School, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Westminster School is set to face off against their familiar foe Kent School at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Loomis Chaffee School will take on rival Kingswood Oxford at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
