Basketball Recap: Portland Adventist Academy's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Portland Adventist Academy came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 55-50 victory over the Horizon Christian Hawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 83-79 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portland Adventist Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Martin Villa, who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Villa also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Oliver Thompson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

Portland Adventist Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Horizon Christian, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Westside Christian the next time they take the court. Portland Adventist Academy will head out to face Westside Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Horizon Christian will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
