Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Gridley

Gridley waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Corning Cardinals a 12-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-2 on Friday.

Charlee Sormano was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Alexis Alcantar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gridley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive contests.

Gridley's record is now 11-4. As for Corning, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Gridley and Corning will both be playing Oroville the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Cardinals will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
