Basketball Recap: Monday's Win Is Ashley Ridge's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Ashley Ridge posted their closest win since December 29, 2023 on Monday. They skirted past the Gaffney Indians 67-64. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Swamp Foxes.

Ashley Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clayton Everett Jr, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. Everett Jr is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nasir Mcelveen, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Londin Bailey, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Bailey has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Mcswain, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

Ashley Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Gaffney, they moved to 4-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Ashley Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 83-39 win against Beaufort on the 3rd. As for Gaffney, they will welcome James F. Byrnes at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. One thing working in James F. Byrnes' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
