Football Game Preview: Middlesex vs. Groton School

Middlesex will venture away from home to face off against Groton School at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Middlesex will bounce into Friday's game after beating Roxbury Latin, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. Middlesex enjoyed a cozy 30-14 win over Roxbury Latin on Saturday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Groton School, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. George's on Friday, sneaking past 10-7. The victory was all the more spectacular given Groton School's disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 248th in Massachusetts, while St. George's is ranked 34th in Rhode Island).

Middlesex has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Groton School's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Middlesex against Groton School in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 47-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middlesex since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
