Soccer Game Preview: North Murray vs. Gilmer

The North Murray Mountaineers will head out to take on the Gilmer Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: North Murray has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Gilmer will arrive with three straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for North Murray's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Murray County on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Gilmer challenged Ringgold on Monday. The Bobcats never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given Gilmer's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Ringgold are ranked 363rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yenifer Lopez was the driving force of Gilmer's attack as she scored both of Gilmer's goals, bringing her season total up to 22 goals.

North Murray's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Gilmer, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

North Murray took their win against Gilmer in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountaineers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
