Baseball Recap: Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Has No Trouble Against Martinsville

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City got themselves on the board against Martinsville on Thursday, but Martinsville never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bluestreaks. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Bluestreaks: they've now won four in a row.

AJ Radloff made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Isaac Wells and Blake Mueller did most of the damage at the plate: Wells went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, while Mueller went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave Mueller a new career-high. Hunter Pope was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's record now sits at 7-14. As for Martinsville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will take on North Clay/Clay City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. North Clay/Clay City will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City surely won't give up without a fight. As for Martinsville, they will take on Casey-Westfield in a tournament on Monday.
