Soccer Game Preview: Amherst County vs. Jefferson Forest

Amherst County hasn't had much luck against Jefferson Forest recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lancers will face off against the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m.

Amherst County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Brookville last Tuesday. They came up short against the Bees, falling 4-1.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Forest put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Brookville a 5-0 shutout. Fans of Jefferson Forest have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 3+ goals.

Jefferson Forest's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four games. As for Amherst County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Amherst County might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Jefferson Forest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
