Basketball Recap: Wapahani Takes Down Eastbrook in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Wapahani rose to the challenge on Friday. They snuck past the Eastbrook Panthers with a 57-52 win. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Panthers are ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Eastbrook lost, don't look at Mia Bustos. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Bustos is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 20 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jazmine Plummer, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Wapahani and bumps their season record up to 19-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points over those games. As for Eastbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

Wapahani wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 54-23 defeat against Alexandria-Monroe on the 8th. Eastbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
