Basketball Recap: Brady Eagles vs. Sandhills Valley Mavericks
The Brady Eagles lost against the Sandhills Valley Mavericks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Brady took a serious blow against the Mavericks, falling 71-36. Brady has struggled against the Mavericks recently, as their match on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Leading Sandhills Valley to victory were Braden Powell and Leyton Connell. Powell dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Connell scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Powell scored 15 or more points. Kyle Kramer was another key contributor, scoring no points along with ten assists and eight rebounds.
Brady dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sandhills Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brady will take on the Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Arapahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday. As for Sandhills Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Paxton is ranked 159th, while the Mavericks are ranked 176th).
