Preview: St. Mary's Rams vs. Lincoln Trojans
The St. Mary's Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Lincoln Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Mary's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
Even though Lodi scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, St. Mary's still came out on top. St. Mary's had just enough and edged Lodi out 59-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory St. Mary's has posted yet this season.
St. Mary's can attribute much of their success to Daniel Huerta, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, and Cayden Ward, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Amir Matthews was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lincoln put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 83-32 victory over Tracy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Lincoln has posted since December 14, 2023.
St. Mary's is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Lincoln, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-4.
St. Mary's suffered a grim 49-28 defeat to Lincoln when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can St. Mary's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
