Basketball Recap: Eureka's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

On FridayHug kept up with Eureka until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. The Eureka Vandals blew past the Hug Hawks 49-28. The Vandals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Hug still got an impressive performance from Cori Carrier, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The game was Carrier's sixth in a row with at least ten points.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Hug, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Eureka won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Valleys at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (North Valleys has won four straight at home, while Eureka won five straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change. Hug and McQueen will round out the year against one another at at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Hug is facing McQueen at the right time seeing as McQueen is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
