Volleyball Game Preview: Tri-Valley Scotties vs. Steubenville Big Red

The Tri-Valley Scotties will take on the Steubenville Big Red in a tournament on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tri-Valley has seven straight victories, Steubenville has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Tri-Valley won the last time they faced West Muskingum and Gracie Olinger did her part to make sure it happened again. The Scotties put the hurt on the Tornadoes with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday thanks in part to Olinger, who had eight digs and four aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served four or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Tri-Valley's got stronger as the match went on, holding West Muskingum to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Steubenville lost 3-0 to University on Thursday.

While Steubenville was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into University's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.

Tri-Valley will have to contain Aubrey Slussar as she made an impact in Steubenville's last game. She had 22 assists and four digs.

Tri-Valley's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Steubenville, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's contest: Tri-Valley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 12 aces per game.
