Northland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Whetstone Braves. One positive for the Vikings, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whetstone to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caniya Woods, who went 8 for 15 on her way to 20 points and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Woods has scored at least a third of Whetstone's points. Catherine Pierce was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.
Northland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Whetstone, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Northland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-24 loss against Centennial on the 20th. As for Whetstone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-13 victory against Linden-McKinley on the 20th.
