Football Recap: Greenfield Piles Up the Points Against New Heights Christian Academy

Greenfield was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against New Heights Christian Academy on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Cougars 104-62. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Greenfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drake Morrison, who threw for 211 yards and five touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 41 yards and a pair of TDs. Another player making a difference was Hudson McGuire, who gained 118 total yards and seven touchdowns.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of McGuire, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Greenfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kooper Renkoski and McGuire. McGuire got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Greenfield's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for New Heights Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Greenfield will take on rival Lockwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, New Heights Christian Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Liberal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
