Preview: Hancock County Hornets vs. Trinity Raiders

The Hancock County Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Trinity Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, things could have been worse for Hancock County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-39 loss to Breckinridge County. While losing is never fun, Hancock County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Breckinridge County is ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Trinity's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They were beaten by Grayson County 59-31. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Trinity in their matchups with Grayson County: they've now lost four in a row.

Hancock County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Trinity, their defeat was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-20.

Everything went Hancock County's way against Trinity in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as Hancock County made off with a 57-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hancock County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
