Baseball Recap: Chester Sets Scoring Season-High Against Academy Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chester). They walked away with a 17-13 victory over the Academy Park Knights on Thursday. With that win, the Clippers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Jacoby Roman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Neaven Diaz, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Nasir Morrison also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Chester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Chester moved to 2-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Academy Park, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
