Softball Recap: Tough Loss for Wheeler

Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the North Cobb Warriors, falling 15-0.

Even though they lost, Wheeler hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That's the fewest strikeouts they have managed all season.

Wheeler has now lost 19 of their last 20 games at home. That leaves them at an 0-16 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 Walton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75.3% over those games). As for North Cobb, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14.

Wheeler and North Cobb could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Wildcats will take on Paulding County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (#364 vs. #157). Meanwhile, North Cobb (ranked 219th) will meet Etowah (ranked 103rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
