Recap: Whiteland Warriors vs. East Central Trojans
The Whiteland Warriors waltzed into their contest Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down East Central 57-42. This was payback for Whiteland, who suffered a 60-51 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whiteland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Edwards, who scored 18 points. The game was Edwards' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wiatt Mclaughlin, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
East Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Ertel, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Dylan Maxwell was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Whiteland's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for East Central, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whiteland will take on Franklin Community at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin Community knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Whiteland likes a good challenge. As for East Central, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Franklin County at 1:30 p.m.
