Softball Game Preview: Edna Cowboys vs. Industrial Cobras

The Edna Cowboys will face off against the Industrial Cobras at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Edna took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Palacios. The win was some much needed relief for the Cowboys as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Industrial hadn't done well against Yoakum recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Industrial put the hurt on Yoakum with a sharp 15-5 victory. Considering the Cobras have won six games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Industrial let Kinley Mauldin and Aleisa Popp run wild. Mauldin scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3, while Popp scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Popp a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Claire Karl, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Industrial's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. As for Edna, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10-1.

Edna was able to grind out a solid win over Industrial in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. Will Edna repeat their success, or does Industrial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
