Basketball Game Preview: Avon Eagles vs. North Ridgeville Rangers

The Avon Eagles will head out to face off against the North Ridgeville Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Avon is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Elyria on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Avon was outmatched by Elyria and fell 70-42. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Pioneers are ranked 93rd).

Meanwhile, North Ridgeville didn't have quite enough to beat Steele on Friday and fell 64-61.

North Ridgeville dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Avon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Avon didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against North Ridgeville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 63-58 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
