Basketball Recap: Ayersville Comes Up Short

Ayersville's game on Friday was all tied up 23-23 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Edon Bombers. The Pilots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bombers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Ayersville still got an impressive performance from Kendra Waldron, who shot 46% from the field on her way to 28 points and three steals. Waldron is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Ensign, who posted seven points.

This is the second loss in a row for Ayersville and nudges their season record down to 1-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 points. As for Edon, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Ayersville will venture away from home to square off against Pettisville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Edon, they will host Montpelier at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
