Baseball Recap: Santa Monica Comes Up Short on the Road Against South

Santa Monica kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the South Spartans by a score of 6-5. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Santa Monica got a good showing from Jackson O'Neal, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Santa Monica saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Gonzalez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Another was Kaveh Naini, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Santa Monica wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-0 victory against Highland on the 21st. As for South, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Mary Star of the Sea on the 21st.
