Softball Recap: Glencoe Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

While Glencoe put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Liberty. The Crimson Tide were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Falcons. Considering the Crimson Tide have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Irene Vandyke was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Vandyke was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalli Farrimond, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. Izabella Howell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Glencoe is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Glencoe will challenge rival Century at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crimson Tide 2.7, the Jaguars 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Liberty is set to take on their familiar foe Forest Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
