Escambia had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Pine Forest on Friday. The Gators blew past the Eagles 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won ten matches by six  runs or more  so far this season.
 Carter Mills and  Ja'Kel Hopkins dominated on the mound. Mills  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit, while  Hopkins  tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits. The dominant performance also gave  Hopkins a new career-high in  strikeouts (five).
 At the plate, Escambia let  Christian Stone and  Tucker Nix run wild. Stone  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3, while  Nix  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of  Sean Smudde, who  went 1-for-3 with three  RBI.
Escambia's win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 17-5. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-20-1.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Escambia will host Pensacola Catholic  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Pine Forest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harrison County  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday.
