Football Recap: Calhoun Academy Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Calhoun Academy had won four straight road games dating back to last season and Colt Layton did his part to make it five on Friday. The Cavaliers blew past the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots 42-14 for which the team can thank Layton, who rushed for 99 yards and two TDs. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Calhoun Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brody Durr and C-Rob Thornton. Calhoun Academy got some further help from Cooper Taylor: he made 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Although Patrick Henry Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Mac Gohagan and Luke Sobey.

Calhoun Academy's record is now 7-1. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
