Kankakee Valley never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against West Central on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Trojans. The Kougars haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Like South Central, Kankakee Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Kyli Page. On the mound, Page tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Jessica Beauchamp didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Page went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Beauchamp went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Julia Mahmet was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Patience Cole, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
South Central has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kankakee Valley, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.
South Central beat Kankakee Valley 17-13 when the teams last played back in April of 2015. Will the Satellites repeat their success, or do the Kougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
