Softball Recap: Bagdad Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Bagdad won the last time they faced Desert Heights Prep and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Sultans never let the Yote get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. Considering the Sultans have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tatum Jeans made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Yessi Moore also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Bagdad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in eight consecutive contests.

Bagdad is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 15.6 runs. As for Desert Heights Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Bagdad will look to defend their home field on Friday against Joseph City at 4:00 p.m. As for Desert Heights Prep, they will head out on the road to take on Salome at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
