Basketball Recap: Pine Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Pine entered their contest against Port St. Lucie on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pine Knights fell 47-38 to the Port St. Lucie Jaguars. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Pine lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Emily Shirk, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Shirk has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 24 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Dunlap, who posted 13 points.

Pine's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Port St. Lucie, their victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Pine will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lake Worth Christian at 4:00 p.m. Pine is facing Lake Worth Christian at the right time seeing as Lake Worth Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Port St. Lucie, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Merritt Island at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
