Football Recap: St. Joseph Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Economedes

St. Joseph Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to the Economedes Jaguars on the road by a 61-46 margin. The Bloodhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Economedes was led to victory by Johan Nunez and Rey Luna. Nunez rushed for 124 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries, while Luna rushed for 97 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Joseph Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Economedes, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph Academy will host La Feria at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Economedes, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Edinburg North at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. The contest will give the Jaguars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
