Volleyball Recap: Van Alstyne Takes a Loss

Van Alstyne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aubrey Chaparrals. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Chaparrals when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Van Alstyne started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-20.

Van Alstyne's loss dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Aubrey, they are on a roll lately: they've won 23 of their last 24 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-2 record this season.

Van Alstyne and Aubrey should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Panthers will challenge Lake Dallas at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (235 vs. 693). Meanwhile, Aubrey (ranked 66th) will meet Sanger (ranked 320th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
