Football Recap: Valentine Comes Up Short

If Valentine was riding high fresh off their 42-0 takedown of Gibbon last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Valentine fell just short of the Centura Centurions by a score of 25-22 on Friday. Valentine was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Centura apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Valentine still got an impressive performance from Trace Buechle, who threw for 179 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 71 yards.

Valentine's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Centura, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Valentine will square off against Hershey at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 14 points per game this season, so Valentine's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Centura, they will challenge Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Centurions' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
