Recap: Avon Orioles vs. Decatur Central Hawks

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fishers, the Avon Orioles were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They snuck past Decatur Central with a 62-56 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Avon can attribute much of their success to Rohan Pearson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pearson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Deandre Lott-hancock, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Decatur Central still got an impressive performance from Ty?reese Burnett, who scored 15 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Burnett scored 15 or more points. Eric Hopson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Avon is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Decatur Central, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon will take on Westfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westfield is on a six-game streak of home wins, Avon a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Decatur Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Plainfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Plainfield's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
