Softball Recap: Dexter Picks Up 16th Straight Win at Home

Dexter put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. Everything went their way against the Jal Panthers as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Demons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Danyela Munoz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Dexter let Jayda Flores and Hannah Sanders run wild. Flores went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI, while Sanders went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three runs gave Flores a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayci Sanders, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Dexter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive contests.

Dexter's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Jal, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Dexter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Sandia Prep on the 22nd. As for Jal, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-7 victory against Eunice on the 22nd.
