Vasquez came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 74-62 win over the St. Monica Academy Crusaders. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Crusaders are ranked 1020th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vasquez's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daeron Bankett, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Rowley, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Vasquez's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for St. Monica Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Vasquez won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against The Palmdale Aerospace Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vasquez knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully The Palmdale Aerospace Academy likes a good challenge. St. Monica Academy has already played their next matchup (against More), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
